This year has been a challenging one for the library as we have moved to the Northdale campus and shared the library space there with multiple classes. However, Mrs. Anding is extremely excited that as this tragedy unfolded this year, the Louisiana Association of School Librarians (LASL) released the latest guidelines for school libraries! (The last version was released in 2004.) These guidelines outline what an EXEMPLARY 21st century school media center in the state of Louisiana should look like. As we work to rebuild our library program, facilities, and resources, these guidelines will be closely examined in the hopes of creating a stellar program that meets the needs of our students, faculty, and other stakeholders. On top of this exciting development, the Louisiana Department of Education also released in 2016 the new Building Digital Literacy guidelines. As the center of the school's technology efforts, the Glen Oaks High Library will be working with the staff to implement the guidelines so that our students are ready for the 21st century workforce. Through these documents and the future plans to rebuild and redesign our facilities, our library program stands ready to develop itself into the organization that our school and students want and need in this increasingly modern society.
